Mathematics of Post-Quantum Cryptography: Travel
Where to stay
- The closest nontrivial town to the workshop venue is Burghausen; the vast majority of workshop participants will want to lodge there.
- We have a (very likely sufficient) number of rooms reserved for workshop participants in hotels in Burghausen. More information on how to book them will follow.
- Our current expectation is that we can provide daily transfer services from Burghausen to the workshop venue. Otherwise, if you're so inclined, it can be a pretty nice but long (≈ 6 km!) walk by the river.
How to get there
Asking your favorite maps website for a trip to Burghausen is likely to end up giving you the right advice. However, just to be sure, the following travel routings are deemed pretty reasonable:
- From Munich Airport (MUC): The easiest option is probably to take the S‑Bahn S8 to München Ost (Munich East), then continue per the instructions from there.
- From München Ost (Munich East): Take regional train RB40 or RE4 to Mühldorf, then regional train RB42 to Burghausen.
- From München Hbf (Munich Central Station): Same instructions as for München Ost, as the trains RB40 and RE4 should allow embarkation at both München Hbf and München Ost.
A single ticket for all of those trains can be purchased in advance or on the day (prior to boarding the train), using either the Deutsche Bahn website bahn.de, the smartphone application DB Navigator, or the ticket vending machines on the platform.
The cheapest (and, incidentally, most convenient) ticket for these itineraries is the Südostbayern-Ticket (only valid for RB/RE), or the Südostbayern-Ticket plus S‑Bahn (valid for RB/RE/S).
